Falakro Mountain - Skiing Centre

Located in Falakro
Falakro is the highest mountain in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and consists of a cluster of three volumes: the northwest with its peak “Agio Pnevma” (1,629 m), the southwest with its peak "Agios Pavlos" (1,768 m) and the eastern with the peak "Profitis Elias" (2,232 m), surrounded by the peaks "Vardena" and "Chionotripa". Its relief creates deep and imposing ravines, magnificent peaks, spectacular slopes and impressive subalpine plateaus. It is also distinguished by interesting geological formations (karstic formations) and its high biodiversity. The Falakro mountain complex is crossed by a number of roughly 80 km-long dirt roads, which are built for service purposes, where mountain biking, trekking and horse riding are currently being developed, activities that can be further developed. On the southern side of the mountain (1,200 m) lies the natural hang gliding and paragliding piste of Pyrgi - Petrousa. The Falakro Ski Centre, the largest in Macedonia, lies at the border with the Municipality of Kato Nevrokopi, 42 km from the city of Drama. There are 3 chalets (two at the base of the skiing centre and one at the end of the four-seater lift). In one of the base chalets there is a restaurant and an accommodation facility. The centre also hosts rental stores, ski schools, canteens, a doctor’s room, spacious parking, 9 lifts and 20 pistes.
