Τhe "day of God"

Located in Mikropoli
During the Ottoman rule in Greece, the Christian residents of Mikropolis celebrated the so-called "feast of God”. During this celebration, the people of the village skipped worked and gathered at the chapel of Saint George. In 1850, the Christian residents celebrated this day with gunshots. As a response, an Ottoman garrison went after them. However, the legend says, when the garrison moved against the villagers thunder and lightning began and an earthquake followed. Since that time, the Turks have begun to celebrate along with the Christians the "day of God". Today, the religious ceremony begins in the same chapel and ends with a big feast.
